I am working hard on a four section posting of the recent LACMA exhibit, "Fashioning Fashion: European Dress in Detail 1700 - 1915". It's pretty exhaustive though, and while we wait I thought I'd post some new fabric and a sneak peek at the brand new Echino Ni-co collection for Spring of 2011!
Many fans know that Echino designer Etsuko Furuya has two distinct collections that she works on - an organic plant and animal theme in the fall and a more technology and transport based theme in the spring. In keeping with that, here are the newest designs that will be arriving in the shop in about six weeks:
Some new designs and some of our favorites! This time around, the Cars are smaller - about 2" - and the Scooter fabric has been printed in stunning new colorways.
It's always fun to look forward to new fabric arriving, but we also have some amazing stuff just in from our recent trip to Las Vegas. Here are some of my favorites...
These three printed knits are 95% viscose and 5% lycra - soft, slinky and perfect for our Knit Dress class! The first two are from France, and the third is from Italy:
These last two are beautiful cotton lawns from France, the same print in a cool colorway and a spicy one!
And here's a preview of some of the amazing garments I'll be posting from the LACMA exhibit:
I'll be breaking it down into four posts because that's how the show was laid out: Timeline, Textiles, Tailoring and Trim. Can't wait to show you all the pretties!
